The Attorney General of Iowa is the state attorney general of the Government of Iowa, USA. The office holder including the person chosen as the Iowa Constitution requires it (thus the Attorney General does not become a member of the same party with other state officials) and is appointed by the Governor of Iowa to fill the void.

The office was created on 9 February 1853. The Attorney General's Office is located at Lucas State Building Building in Des Moines; The Attorney General also has rooms at the Iowa State Capitol to prepare the law, which is his historic office.

As stated in Iowa law, office powers and duties include: representing state departments and agencies; take action for citizens in the protection of consumers and other areas; enforcing the state environmental protection law; play a central role in the criminal justice system; and provide assistance and advocacy for victims of crime. The Attorney General also issued legal opinions on legal questions raised by elected or appointed state officials and defended all lawsuit action against the state. Iowa is unique because its Attorney is owned by a government judicial branch, as opposed to a government executive branch, as do 48 of the other 50 countries. List of Iowa Public Defenders List
