Daniel R. White (born 1953, Atlanta, Georgia) is an American lawyer and writer. His first book, Official Lawyer's Manual, , an allusion to the legal profession, was a bestseller in the early 1980s. The success of the Handbook, is ranked # 1 on the best seller list at The Washington Post and may draw on White's personal experience of practicing law with the Hogan Washington, DC law firm. & amp; Hartson, led to the appearance of television, lectures, and other books, as a result of The American Lawyers' magazine declared White "The Official Lawyer's Comedian."

White graduated from The Westminster Schools, a joint educational prep school in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a B.A. in Government from Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude in 1975.
After college, he went to Seoul, Korea, where he wrote and edited travel articles for the Korea National Tourism Corporation (later renamed Korea Tourism Organization), an agent of the Republic of Korea.
The following year he attended Columbia Law School, where he obtained JD in 1979. He served as the Article Editor of the Columbia Law Review, which published his first legal paper, " Pacifica Foundation v. FCC : 'Filthy Words,' First Amendment, and Broadcasting Media, 'during the second year of White The article, which discusses a decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Circuit District of Columbia about the famous monologue "Seven Dirty Words" comedian George Carlin, quoted by The US Supreme Court in a related ruling.
At Columbia, White is an expert on Harlan Fiske Stone and recipient of the Archie O. Dawson Advocate Award, which provides clerks for advocacy studies at three federal court levels, including periods in the rooms of US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.
White served as a legal officer for US District Court judge Thomas A. Flannery, and later joined Hogan & Hartson, where he spent about 3 years. After exiting Hogan & amp; Hartson spent four years promoting his first book, starting his career as a public speaker and corporate entertainer, and trying unsuccessfully to become a screenwriter. For several years White practiced law sporadically with Ross's company, Dixon & amp; Masback. After that, for more than a year, White worked as a legal business consultant for accounting firm and consultant Arthur Andersen. There he consulted primarily for the corporate legal department, where he performed tasks such as substantive overhaul and style of Exxon's "External Advisory Manual".

Daniel White's first book, Official Lawyer's Manual , is ranked # 1 on The Best Book's best seller list and # 5 on the National Weekly Publishers list . On the basis of this book The Washington Post declared White "jester court of the legal profession" and praised him by "helping launch a wave of current legal humor."
The book was re-released in an updated form as Still Official Lawyers Handbook, and later released in revised form in the UK, with Philip R. Jenks as co-author.
White's reputation as a legal humor is fostered by his other books, especially the White Law Dictionary, which is a parody of the classic legal lexicon, Black Dictionary, Trials and Tribulations - An Interesting Humor Law Antics ; and What Lawyers Do - And How To Make Them Work for You , a light but substantively substantive book that enjoys the distinction of being the monthbook Club option.
White also wrote a number of relatively small volumes, an endless list including Classic Cocktail Books, The Martini, Really Redneck, The Birthday Book, and Horrorscopes.
Less well known as a journalist, White has published articles for publications ranging from the American Bar Association Journal to Cosmopolitan . Editing
At the New York Law Publishing Company, where he worked from 1994 to 1996, White served as chief editor and lead author for the Law Firm Partnership & amp; Benefit Report, national bulletin for partners and law firm managers. He serves as the managing editor of two other national bulletins for lawyers, Employment Strategy Strategist and Marketing for Lawyers and edited articles for the Journal of National Law.
White has also established himself as a freelance editor of non-fiction monographs.

Although his roots are in legal comedy, White has shown a wider range, beginning in 1992-1993, when he served as editor-in-chief, and lead author for, Current Comedy, twice-monthly "Humor Service for Public Speakers & Business Executives "founded by former television gag writer and presidential speech writer Robert Orben.
White has written a joke for company executives and Jay Leno. The parody of Ernest Hemingway's writing style appears on The Best of Bad Hemingway, an anthology.

White has emerged as a legal humor on CNN, CBS, NPR, and numerous other television and radio shows across the country. She has been profiled in such publications as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, and International Herald Tribune .
He has spoken to bar associations, medical conventions, law firms, and other meetings throughout the United States and abroad.
Comparing himself to a lawyer who mocks the legal profession with "lawyer jokes" and engages in "lawyer hijacking," White says his jabs are tender and affectionate, because he "the union member," becomes his own lawyer and comes from a family lawyer.
