Philip Harnett Corboy (August 12, 1924 - June 12, 2012) is an American court lawyer involved in personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice cases throughout the United States for more than half a century. He founded the law firm Philip H. Corboy & amp; Partner who later became Corboy & amp; Demetrio. Dean of the Chicago Loyola University Law School, David Yellen, stated: "There are very few living lawyers who have the impact that Phil Corboy has, he has changed the practice of personal injury law.He is a teacher and mentor for the couple, the leading generation of lawyers in the country "Her career was featured in a cover article in Chicago Lawyer titled" Corboy College: Chicago Trial Lawyers' Alma Mater ".

The National Law Journal enrolled Corboy as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America and one of the country's top 15 lawyers; Chicago magazine put it on the lists, The Power 100 and Power Lawyers, and called him one of the 30 heaviest lawyers in Chicago. Law & amp; Business listed him as one of America's leading court attorneys. He has been The Best Lawyers in America book since its inception in 1987.

In 2010, he and his wife, Mary Dempsey, made the biggest single prize ever held to Loyola University Chicago School of Law. In recognition, Loyola changed the name of his law school to build Philip H. Corboy Law Center. In addition to numerous awards from religious organizations, legal associations and publications, Corboy was awarded a Doctorate of Honorary Law from John Marshall Law School and St. Lawrence. Later career and board
He is a president of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and former chairman of the Section on Litigation of the American Bar Association. Corboy has served as general counsel to the Illinois Democratic Party and has served on the board of directors of business, law and charity groups and as a member of the task force for courts, judiciary and medical-related institutions. He is also active in national and international associations such as the Inner Circle of Advocates, the International Trial Lawyers Academy, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Barristers Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American Association for Justice.
Death
Corboy died at home in Chicago on June 12, 2012 at the age of 87. He survived by his wife Mary Dempsey whom he married in 1992. He has five children, Phillip Jr., John, Thomas, Joan Marie, and Robert. Joan Marie and Robert preceded their father.
