Tony Buzbee is an American court lawyer who has been involved in numerous high profile cases. In 2014 it was announced that Buzbee would be a key adviser to Governor Rick Perry of Texas after he was indicted for two alleged crimes that were later dismissed in 2016. In 2009, Buzbee won the largest jury award against British Petroleum (BP) in history. Buzbee is the managing partner of the Buzbee Law Firm in Houston, Texas. On November 2, 2015, Buzbee was awarded the Attorney Of The Year by Texas Lawyer Magazine.
Buzbee has represented many, noting the Americans, including honored horse trainer Bob Baffert and recording artist and entrepreneur Jimmy Buffett. Buzbee has represented many government entities, including the State of Louisiana, and the Basque Government in the Kingdom of Spain.

Early life and education
Born for parents working as a butcher and a high school cafeteria worker, Buzbee grew up in Atlanta, Texas.
Buzbee earned a B.S. in Psychology from Texas A & amp; M University. He served as Commander of the Battalion at the Cadet Corps and was granted a Navy Graduate Degree, Special Student, Elder NROTC Extraordinary, and Extraordinary Commander in the Taruna Corps.
Buzbee served as a Marine Corps infantry officer in the Persian Gulf and Somalia. As Captain, Buzbee ordered the Recon Company of the First Marine Regiment. Buzbee was awarded a Navy Medal.
Buzbee graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center. He ranks second in his class. Buzbee is Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review and Class Captain. Buzbee was the Winner of Texas and Regional Mock Trial in 1996.

In 2002, a Texas Lawyer law publication named Buzbee as a 5 "Go to" Lawyer for Commercial Litigation in the State of Texas. He has been elected several times as the Texas "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters (2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
Buzbee appeared on the cover of The New York Times magazine in November 2010 regarding his role in litigation against BP following the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The article describes Buzbee as "one of the most successful lawyers in the country." Buzbee reappeared in The New York Times in March 2013 after his appointment to the Board of A & amp; Texas, this time the magazine called Buzbee a big Texas lawyer, meaning, ambitious, tenacious, and breathing with a bonfire.. In May 2013, Texas Monthly profiled Buzbee for his role in sexual assault against rich philanthropist Stanley Marsh, stating, "Buzbee has made his reputation go after the company, and he usually wins."

In March 2017, Buzbee was elected as Aggie Distinguished Lawyer 2017 as part of the Aggie Bar Association's 18th Annual Conference.
At the University of Houston Law Alumni Association Awards 2017, Buzbee was awarded the Dean's Award for his work in protecting school and brand names in a federal trademark infringement suit in 2016.
Philanthropy
Buzbee is active in several charity areas in Houston. In addition to previously serving on the Board of Directors at the Jesse Tree charity, he also provided support to the Star of Hope Mission for the Homeless, Meals on Wheels, Friendswood Methodist Church, and others.
In 2012, Buzbee donated $ 3 million to Texas A & amp; M Foundation. The Buzbee Leadership Learning Center, the first construction on the quad in 73 years, is named in his honor.
In April 2014 Buzbee donated $ 1 million to establish the first blessed faculty seats at Texas A & amp; M University. It will be called Dean Chairs Anthony G. Buzbee Dean and the incoming deans will use the funds to invest in such things as hiring new faculty and expanding academic programs.
In July 2014 Buzbee contributed $ 3 million and approved an annual contribution of $ 100,000 to the 12th Human Foundation in Texas A & amp; M. This donation will help support Aggies Athletics and provide Buzbee access to the recently renovated West Legacy Suite at Kyle Field.

In March 2013, Governor Rick Perry appointed Buzbee to the A University Board of A & amp; M. He was appointed along with Houston lawyer Charles Schwartz and reappointed Morris Foster. His term ended on 1 February 2019.
Business interests
Buzbee is also a property developer, working to revitalize the historic city center of Friendswood. He owns Buzbee Properties, a residential and commercial real estate firm that focuses on the communities of southern Texas, Friendswood, Pearland, Alvin, Webster, Pasadena, Clear Lake, League City, Kemah and Seabrook. Buzbee also has a variety of retail entities, commercial buildings, and several hotels in Florida.
Politics
Buzbee has supported Democratic and Republican politicians at local, state and federal levels.
In 2012, Buzbee supports the Texas Republican presidential campaign, Rick Perry, with financial support and the use of his private jet. Buzbee also serves as one of Perry's debating coaches.
That same year, Buzbee served as a debating coach for Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in his failed bid for the United States Senate.
