Elizabeth F. Schwartz is an American lawyer, author and advocate for the legal rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.

Life and career
Schwartz served as a legal adviser in a case against a Florida-type marriage ban filed by the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) on behalf of six same-sex couples seeking the right to marry (Pareto v. Ruvin). This lawsuit resulted in the decision of Miami Dade Judge Dade Sarah Zabel that same-sex marriage ban prohibits same-sex couples due to the same process and protection under the law, and in ordering Miami-Dade County to issue marriage certificates for same-sex. couple.
Schwartz has also filed a lawsuit in Florida for the issuance of a fair birth certificate to the same married couple and handles the first case for divorce of same-sex couples.
In addition to his legal work, Elizabeth F. Schwartz has supported the LGBT community through local and national lectures on the importance of LGBT couples protecting their families through adoption of second parents and housing planning. He writes on issues about the LGBT community for the Huffington Post.
Schwartz is featured in The Day It Snowed In Miami (2014) documentary of the 2014 Emmy documentary that traces political activism behind the same rights law in Miami.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1997. She started practicing law in 1997.
Elizabeth Schwartz was born in Miami Beach and currently lives with his wife, writer Lydia Martin, in Miami, FL.
