Mark Jeremy Bennett (born February 24, 1953) is a Honolulu attorney, Hawaii who served as Hawaii's Attorney General from 2003 to 2010 in a two-month government of Republican Governor Linda Lingle. He was the first attorney appointed by the Republican governor since governor William F. Quinn, the first elected state governor. He has been nominated to United States Court Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Careers
In 1976, Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Union College in Schenectady. He studied at Cornell Law School in Ithaca, where he sits on the Board of Editors of the Law Law Review. . There, he received a Juris Doctor in 1979. After leaving law school, Bennett became a scribe for Samuel Pailthorpe King who served as the chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. Completing his decency, Bennett became an Assistant US Attorney serving in Washington, D.C. from 1980 to 1982 and in Honolulu until 1990. In 1991, Bennett underwent personal legal practice as a partner at the McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon LLP firm. At the same time, he worked pro-bono for the attorney general's office and taught at William S. Richardson Law School.
In a rare fashion but as determined by state law, from 25 August to 3 September 2004, Bennett served as the Governor of Hawaii for the absence of Governor Linda Lingle and the Governor of Lt. Duke Aiona. Executives leave the Hawaiian Islands to attend the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City.

Nominated to Court of Appeal
On 12 February 2018, President Trump announced his intention to nominate Bennett to an undetermined seat in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. On February 15, 2018, his nomination was sent to the Senate. President Trump nominated Bennett to the seat of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit left by Judge Richard Clifton, who took senior status on December 31, 2016. On April 11, 2018, his candidacy hearing was held before the Senate of the Judicial Committee. On May 10, 2018 his candidacy was reported out of the committee by a vote of 18-2. His nomination is currently pending before the United States Senate is full.
Personal life
Bennett was born on February 24, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York. He married Honolulu lawyer Patricia Tomi Ohara.
