Initial years

Reddock's father was in the military, and he was born in Germany before moving to his parents' home in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 2 years. It was the 1970s post-Civil Rights Alabama, and his grandmother, a homely worker and an organizer with a nurse union, often took Reddock for demonstrations. It was then that Reddock first developed an interest in civic and social engagement.

Reddock was nine years old when his family moved to Compton, California. There, he will travel across town to Brentwood, where he attends private school at Brentwood School. It was a long journey - even by the standards of Los Angeles - but the impulse showed him many different faces in the area.

As a teenager, Reddock evolved while exploring different worlds of Compton and Brentwood. After high school, Reddock went to Amherst College in Massachusetts and studied abroad at Oxford University, St. Catherine's College in Oxford, England. After college, he was a partner with the Coro Foundation program in public policy and public affairs in Los Angeles. After that, he studied at law school at UCLA School of Law.

Legal care and public services

Reddock is a leading employment lawyer and lawyer, and Managing Partner of Reddock Law Group based in Los Angeles, California. He is a partner of California law firm, Carroll, Burdick & amp; McDonough, LLP and Co-Chair of the Corporate Litigation and Counseling Working Group. He is also an associate with the national employment law firm and the national labor of Jackson Lewis.

Reddock has been actively involved in state and local government for over 20 years. He began his career in politics run for the Los Angeles City Council, District 11 in 2005. At that time, the district was almost 60% white and had relatively few black voters. Challenging the idea that a minority candidate can not run in non-minority districts, Reddock surprised many people by collecting more than 14% of the vote, thus forming a name for himself in Los Angeles politics.

Reddock served as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Los Angeles Community College District for two years. He was appointed to the council in April 2007, replacing former member Michael Waxman. The Los Angeles Community College District has nine campuses in 36 Los Angeles County cities. The eight-member, non-partisan Board of Supervisors guides policy and oversees budget operations and curriculum standards of $ 600 million.

As a member of the Supervisory Board, Reddock is a leader in helping pass Measure J, a $ 3.5 billion bond that will enable the Los Angeles Community College District to continue to rebuild and renovate nine colleagues into a 21st century green and sustainable standard. Reddock has also challenged proposed cuts for college funding and proposes an increase in student fees within California state budget.

Reddock has hosted several board chairmen, including the chairperson of the Los Angeles African Women's Economic Society (LAAAWPPI), an organization that trains women to be more involved in public policy and public affairs, and First Ability, an organization that provides services to individuals with disabled. Reddock also serves as Commissioner at the Los Angeles City Transportation Commission and the Los Angeles County Government Service Reform Commission, where he is the chairman of the Taxicab Task Force. Previously, he was a Commissioner of the Los Angeles County Small Business Development Commission and a member of the State Council of Barbering and Cosmetology.

Reddock is a published author and legal commentator. His published works include How to Survive Your First Job (Special Editor) and Inside Mind: Labor & amp; Employee Client Strategy . He also serves as legal commentator for KFWB's "Turning Point Business Minute" and for KCAL-9 and KCBS-2 television.
