The Attorney General of Alabama is elected, the constitutional official of the State of Alabama. The Attorney General's office is located in the state capitol in Montgomery, Alabama. Henry Hitchcock was elected Alabama's first attorney in 1819.

Task
As is common in many states, the Attorney General is the head of state lawyers. He is called as the primary defense law of Alabama, a lawyer for state officials and represents the state in all matters brought before a court or court. Attorney General (AG) also provides advice advice to local and state governments when questions arise about the constitutionality of proposed laws and regulations. It is AG's duty to represent the country when questions arise regarding various criminal penalties including capital punishment.
From time to time AG may initiate legal proceedings on behalf of the state or on behalf of a defective consumer due to illegal or malicious commercial transactions.

The eight divisions comprise the Attorney General's office. Divisions include: General Crimes Division, Public Corruption Division, Civil Division, Appeals Division, Consumer Protection Division, Constitutional Defense Division, and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
