Josh D. Lee (Born November 21, 1979 in Vinita, Oklahoma) is a shareholder in Ward Lee & amp; Coats, PLC in Vinita, Oklahoma. He has national practice. He focused his practice on two special crime defense areas: 1) DUI/DWI and other alcohol related costs, and 2) drug costs. He is best known as a supporter of open government and has successfully sued the government in the State of Oklahoma to enforce Oklahoma Open Record law.

Initial years
He was born and raised in Vinita, Oklahoma. She is the only child of Jack and Dolores Lee. He worked as a 911 shipping officer and police officer for the Vinita Police Department after high school. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern Oklahoma A & amp; M in Miami, Oklahoma. He went on to graduate from Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology - Multimedia Software and Design. He received a law degree with honors in 2007 from the University of Tulsa College of Law. In 2016, he holds a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida.

early legal career
He started his legal career as a licensed legal apprentice for the Tulsa County District Prosecutors Office. He was assigned to work on the Main Crimes Team when he went to go to private practice. In 2007, he joined Clinton M. Ward and his practice in Vinita, Oklahoma, and formed Ward & amp; Lee, PLC. The company is now named Ward Lee & amp; Coats, PLC.
Primary case
Lee is known for his appeal advocacy in open government cases, including:
- Ward & amp; Lee, PLC v Claremore City, 2014 OK CIV APP 1 - establishes the public right to access police cam recordings and sheriffs under the Oklahoma Open Record Act.
In DUI and the context of criminal law, he has been a record lawyer for the following cases:
- Exceptions to Malcolm Scott and De'Marchoe Carpenter. On May 19, 2016, Tulsa District District Judge found Scott and Carpenter "completely innocent" from a 1994 photo shoot that sentenced them to life imprisonment of 170 years. Scott and Carpenter became the 31st and 32nd individuals to be released in Oklahoma since 1989. The 21-year-old and the 8 months they spent in prison as men being wrongly convicted were the longest of the previous 30 exonerees in Oklahoma. Lee, along with Oklahoma Innocence Project Law Director Christina Green, represented Scott on the matter. The closing argument of the January 29, 2016 hearing received high praise from local journalists and court observers. He also succeeded in representing Scott and Carpenter when District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler appealed for an exoneration.
- Andrews v. State, 2014 OK CIV APP 19. In this case, the appellate court ruled that the paramedics were not approved to withdraw the blood for the Consolidated Consent of Oklahoma Case
- Country v. Mayes. In this case, the indictment was issued at a preliminary hearing on a 74-year-old woman living in a house where marijuana and about 277,000 dollars were confiscated.
