History

In 1983, Dino De Laurentiis produced Firestarter in Wilmington. North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt claimed that the film boosts economic activity in the state. Hunt used incentives and loans to allow De Laurentiis to buy local warehouses to convert into studios. In early 1984, De Laurentiis founded the North Carolina Film Corporation, with Martha Schumacher as president.

In 1985, DEG acquired Embassy Pictures from The Coca-Cola Company.

Movies released

The distribution of Canadian DEG releases is done by Paramount Pictures.

DEG has an initial version of Recall in pre-production with Patrick Swayze as Quaid and Bruce Beresford to direct (David Cronenberg has also been approached), where it has been shot in Australia. After the bankruptcy of DEG, the film went to Carolco Pictures.

Together with the library of Embassy Pictures, the library of De Laurentiis Entertainment Group has since gone to StudioCanal.
