Famous case and activity

The law firm received national recognition in 1980 after receiving a $ 18 million jury decision against Louisville & The Nashville Railroad after one of his trains stopped in Pensacola, Florida, killing a young doctor and his wife, and leaving their two little children to be an orphan. The jury's verdict is the largest compensation compensation decision in US history at the time. Due to the size of the verdict, the company was featured in the April 1981 edition of the US magazine.

The law firm re-created the national news in 1989 with the inauguration of a live talk show host to an air lawyer providing free legal advice. The show became a lightning rod for potential legal ethics issues, with critics saying: "This is obviously advertising for law firms that tilt as it makes the public believe in higher decisions, more rights from disadvantaged and anti-doctors. " The show produced two separate Florida Bar investigations, and one lawsuit, when lawyers lawyers admitted the broadcast: "I used to enjoy betting on football matches, and now they've captured my bookie." Another time, a lawyer rambles on about the medical profession and accuses doctors of having a "God complex - they think they're above the law."

The lawsuit's most controversial act came in 1993 when it rewrote Florida law allowing the state of Florida to sue the Tobacco Industry, and then set its course through the state legislature. After the law was enforced by the United States Supreme Court, the Tobacco Industry settled with Florida for an unprecedented $ 13 billion. Confidential legal maneuvers, some described as immoral, are part of a national debate about whether personal injury law negatively impacts the American business environment, including the July 2000 issue in Time magazine titled "Are Lawyers Running America?" it included photos of Fred Levin wearing a red blazer and sunglasses and leaning on an antique Rolls-Royce.

In a 2014 book about the company and the subject of personal injury litigation, Josh Young writes, "It is very rare that any major mistake in the country does not present itself to Levin Papantonio, which is clearly regarded as one of the very few 800- banging gorillas in the fields. He has earned that reputation for decades.... "Action Magazine reported in 2014," Restrictions on the rights and remedies of victims from "single injury" cases ultimately move many companies into demands big, with the Levin Papantonio company leading in Florida. "
