Scott Ellis (born April 19, 1957) is an American director, actor and director of television.

Biography
Ellis graduated from Goodman School of Drama DePaul University in Chicago. He also graduated from James W. Robinson Middle School, Fairfax, VA, in 1975. Ellis has a twin brother named Mark, who is a lawyer.
Before he became director, Ellis was a successful stage actor; he appeared on Broadway in the original musical "Musical Chair" in 1980, and The Rink with Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera.
He has directed numerous Off-Broadway and Broadway productions, as well as the New York City Opera Company's revival at the New York State Theater: A Little Night Music 1990 and 110 at the Shade. (1992).
Ellis has been an Associate Artistic Director for the Roundabout Theater since 1998.
She has been nominated for Tony's Award as Best Director eight times: the revival of She Loves Me (1994), Steel Pier (1997), the revival of 1776 > (1998), Twelve Angry Men (2005),
She is the Executive Producer for the Weeds TV drama at Showtime, and has directed the episodes of Modern Family Television, Jackie Nurse, Good Wife, i>, Hung , 30 Rock , Desperate Housewives , Closer and Easier He received an Emmy Award nomination in 2007 for directing the episode "The Break Up" from the Rock comedy series .
In 2010, Playbill announced that Ellis is expected to direct the upcoming musical adaptation of the 1930s film The Blue Angel and Little Miss Marker . Both will have the book by David Thompson.
