History
The Doral Country Club was built for $ 10 million by Carol Management, a New York-based real estate company led by Alfred Kaskel. The club opened in January 1962.
This resort is a sister hotel to the famous Doral Hotel on the ocean in Miami Beach, Florida.
In 1994, Management Carol sold a majority stake in the resort to KSL Recreation, Kohlberg affiliate Kravis Roberts focusing on major golf facilities, about $ 100 million. KSL was later purchased in 2004 by CNL Hospitality (later CNL Hotels & Resorts), a trust of real estate investments affiliated with CNL Financial Group. CNL put the resort under the management of Marriott International by the end of that year. In 2007, CNL Hotels was acquired by the real estate arm of Morgan Stanley.
Around 2010, the Pritikin Longevity Center moved to the spa area at the Doral resort.
In 2011, a group of creditors led by Paulson & amp; Co took control of Doral and seven other properties from Morgan Stanley. They quickly placed Doral and four other properties under Chapter 11's bankruptcy protection, and began looking for buyers for Doral.
In February 2012, Trump Organization bought Doral Resort & amp; The spa came out of bankruptcy of $ 150 million. The property name is then changed to Trump National Doral. Trump started a $ 250 million resort renovation in 2013, completed in 2016. The purchase and renovation was financed with a $ 125 million loan from Deutsche Bank.
Trump's purchase includes four out of five golf courses. Fifth, the "Great White Course," was excluded from the sale because of its high potential for redevelopment. Instead, it is sold, along with other bankrupt property, to GIC, the creditor in this case. GIC sells courses in 2016 for $ 96 million for two homebuilders, Lennar Homes and CC Homes.
Legal and legal controversy
Trump "has been the target of dozens of liens" from contractors working on renovation projects. On May 20, 2016, a Miami-Dade County Circuit Court judge ordered Trump National Doral Miami to be foreclosed and sold on June 28 unless the Trump Organization paid $ 32,800 to a paint manufacturer in Miami.
A 6-foot tall portrait of Donald Trump was painted by Miami Beach-based artist Havi Schanz, who became controversial when reportedly purchased for $ 10,000 with funding from the non-profit Trump Foundation, hanging on the wall at the Champions Bar & resort; Grill.
Since Trump buys this resort in 2012, it has challenged local property tax assessments every year. In a filing with the Federal Electoral Commission, Trump consistently claims high property values ââfor its golf course; in the taxation process, Trump generally claims a much lower value. In August 2016, Doral Councilwoman Sandra Ruiz challenged the tax assessment for the Doral resort, saying that it was too low and did not take into account the renovations that increased its value.
Golf course and tournament
Trump National Doral Miami has five championship golf courses:

The Blue Monster played host to the Doral Open on the PGA Tour from 1962 to 2006, and from 2007 to 2016 the WGC-Cadillac Championship made its home there after being played in various places in the United States and Europe since it was founded in 1999.
